The Governor, The Senate and The House of Representatives are all responsible to work on a state budget. This is a team effort by all of our elected officials. Un-allotments by the Governor should only be used when the APPROVED existing state budget has taken a hit because of a fall of revenues due to an economic down turn in the collection of taxes. My ideas for State taxes 1. Fair and equitable taxing system for all individuals and businesses 2. New lower individual income tax 3. New lower business tax 4. New lower charity organization tax (pull tabs etc.) 5. Stop all Off Shore tax loopholes 6. Maybe extend state sales tax on clothing, services, and on-line purchase? 7. Increase staff and funding for the state tax department 8. Support state casino(s) with proceeds to supplement K-12 education. Higher Ed, roads & bridges, and a new Vikings stadium 9. User tax on all tickets sold for state supported funding for professional sport stadiums. User tax will sunset when the stadium is paid off 10. User tax on all tickets sold for any event using sport stadiums (concerts, sport shows etc.) 11. Flat tax/fair tax? Met Council members should be elected by the voters in their respected districts, they should not be appointed by the Governor! When taxed by non-elected officials we have NO Representation. The Met Council is "Taxation without Representation" Time for a change. |
I represent the voters of Senate District 48. Your input is valuable in helping me to make decisions in maintaining, reducing, or eliminating state services/programs. I will always ask, What do you want and what amount of taxes are you willing to pay to for it? State and local governments are responsible to provide services that individuals can not provide themselves. (such as roads, bridges, police, fire protection) Elected officials are then responsible to spend the tax payers money in a respectful and legal manner. Elected Officials are to be held to a higher standard to ensure our tax money is spent wisely. |
